Instructions

Step 1

Measure the circumference of your stone and add 4" to base wire measurements.

Cut (x3) 20 gauge square wire at that length.

Then, cut a 4" piece of 21 gauge ½ round wire and wrap it around the center of the base wires 3 times making sure that the flat side of the wire is against the square wire. Cut off the excess and compress the wire with your flat nose pliers.

Step 2

Spread the wires out slightly.

Step 3

Cut a 12" piece of ½ round wire and wrap it around one of the middle wires a couple times and then scoot it down to the bottom of the frame.

Step 4

Wrap the wire until it reaches the top of your stone. Repeat on the other side. DO NOT cut off excess wire at this point.

Step 5

Using a mandrel or dowel, to create the curved bottom to seat the stone.

Step 6

Using your chain nose pliers, bend the back wires inward to hold the back of the stone.

Step 7

Cut off the excess ½ round wire on ONE side and tuck in the excess.

Step 8

Using the other ½ round wire, wrap it around all base wires to create the frame.

Step 9

Continue wrapping the ½ round wire around the front 2 base wires to create the bail.

Step 10

Continue wrapping the ½ round wire around the front 2 base wires to create the bail.

Step 11

Grab the front wire on the right and curve it across the front of the piece and around to the other side. Cut off excess and tuck in against the side of the piece.

Step 12

Repeat with the next wire.

Repeat with the third wire.

Trim off the back excess wires from the bail just under the wrapped wires.

Wrap the final wire following the previous curved wires.
